Filming Locations
To make my video appropriate for my target audience I looked at what was popular with current students around that age and made them want to come to Worcester as a student.
After collecting a few peoples opinions I concluded that these were the main reasons the target audience range came to Worcester:
- The Night Life
- Sports
- Sporting events
- Events in the local city
- Shopping
- Dining Out
This made me then want to include as much as this as possible within my video. After having this information I then started contacting people to see if I could come and film in their facilities.
For Night Life I contacted Sin and Bushwackers, Tramps and Alexanders three popular clubs within Worcester which are targeted at a similar target audience to my brief. The guy whom runs all the events on a Saturday in Tramps is also connected with Alexanders and contacted me back on their page saying I could come and film Yungen Night at Tramps nightclub on the 9th December.
Sports I emailed a few on the university ran sporting clubs and asked if I could film them in practice. I contacted both Dance and Netball as I felt these were unique sports which not loads of people were going to go and film also. Both contacted me back saying I could come and film them. Netball also asked me to film them a promotional video, which will allow me to get footage from practice, an away game and also some friendly matches between the Seven Stars. This also included sporting events as well as sports.
Events in the local city I used the city guide again and every year in Worcester there is a Victorian Christmas Market. I thought I could use this to get some footage of food, as there is a lot of street food about which I think would be unique and capture the uniqueness of Worcester to the target audience. Also a lot of people around the target audience haven't got loads of money, and street food offers cheap but good high quality food which is always appealing.
For shopping it was very hard to contact shops asking for permission to film as they weren't like restaurants with emails to contact. I ended up going into House of Fraser with two other students and just asking permission from the general manager to film, which she allowed us to do.
I will also be filming some establishing shots of Worcester (Fort Royal Park), some natural city shots to capture the essence of the city in natural daylight and night time and also a sunset time lapse. These are filler shots which will make the video flow better together.
This then concluded all my filming locations.
